The book of psalms is filled with so much wisdom. In times of pain I find that comfort can be found within the Psalms.
Psalms 42 is a prayer for rescue and a psalm for those who have been hurt or slandered.
I believe that when we dig into the word of God it allows for His goodness to wash over us. It is refreshing to our soul. One of the verses that stood out to me in Psalm 42 is…Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls: all your waves and breakers have swept over me” Psalms 42:7
As I am writing this I happen to be at the Priest Lake and the water level is extremely high. The ramp to our dock is covered in water and we have no beach at this point. The lake has crept across the grass of my dad’s cabin next door and the wind is creating waves that are crashing over docks and yards around the whole lake. All of us around the lake know that the water will subside and we will be able to fix the damage done by the high water and crashing waves.
There is nothing that says we won’t find ourselves in what feels like deep waters. As the storm rages around us and the waves come crashing in, we can cry out to God for help. We can count on Him keep us afloat.
If you are reading this today and your soul is downcast, I want to encourage you to grab your Bible and read Psalms 42. If you don’t have a bible with you here is the link to Psalms 42. Put your hope in God and praise him even in the storm. Let His truth sweep over you like the roar of a mighty waterfall and trust Him in the deep water and crashing waves.
