Hidden Treasures

Wandering through my mother’s garden there are hidden treasures. Tucked under the leaves of a Hosta I found these little gems. Each time I walk through her garden I discover something new that fills me with happiness. The same is true when we study the Bible. Scripture is filled with all kinds of hidden treasures. Today I want to encourage you to open your Bible and see what hidden gems God has for you. With every pass through my mom’s garden I find something new and I believe that the word God is the same. His living word will never run out of hidden treasures.

Proverbs 3:13-15 (NIV) says,

Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.

When we dig into the Word of God we will find wisdom, understanding, and some beautiful hidden gems. Today I want to encourage you to open your bible and read. Next share with me in the comments a little gem that you took away from what you read. What you share may be just what someone else needs.

Have a blessed day.

Do Not Be Ashamed

Sunset over Priest Lake

Today my word for you is simply…”Be a light”. Do not be ashamed of who you are in Christ. Let your light shine for all to see because that light has the ability to guide others out of the darkness. Matthew 5:14-16 is the perfect verse for when it comes to being a light. Today, I want to share it with you in the message translation and I hope you like it…

“Here’s another way to put it: you’re here to be a light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a blanket, do you? I’m putting you on the light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand-shine! Keep open house;  be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, your prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven”. Matthew 5:14-16 (The Message)

I hope that you are never ashamed or afraid to let your light shine for Jesus. Always be a beacon of hope for those in the dark.

Slide to the Right

I trust my husband as a pilot. I put my life in his hands every time we fly. He has however, had me do a little emergency training of my own to be prepared for an unexpected emergency. I think any time we get into a plane we are putting our trust in a pilot that we do not even know.
If we are willing to trust the hand of man/woman on the yoke of the plane as it soars through the sky, why is it so hard for people to trust God? For some reason it’s difficult for us to give up control and be the co-pilot. Truth be told, it’s okay to be the co-pilot.
Let go and let God be in charge. As the co-pilot you still need to train for the unexpected turbulence, emergency or change in your heading with prayer and study. No matter what, you can trust God in the pilot seat. Today I hope you will move to the right seat (the co-pilot seat) and give God the left seat so he can take control. When you slide over to the right seat you will be held in the arms of Jesus who is seated in a place of honor at the right side of His Father. So what are you waiting for? Slide to the right and have a blessed day.
